2007 Eskom eta Awards

The task: Expertly arrange a black-tie function for the annual 17th Eskom eta Awards that will acknowledge and reward winners for their contributions to energy efficiency. Leave an indelible impression and encourage guests to take steps toward sustainable change.

The challenges: Two months to organise all creative and logistical aspects of the event. Present the concept of energy efficiency in an original, technologically driven and dramatically satisfying way.

The logistics: Concept implementation; quality control and coordination of the guest list; design, production and distribution of the invitations and management of RSVPs; table seating; assisting with logistics for adjudication; pre-recording of winners at their location; arrangement of VIP parking; venue hire and coordination; management of registration and reception; co-ordination of all staging and production; management of catering including menu, bar and waiter service; developing and application of a theme to décor, production script, entertainment and print elements; production of menus, programmes and name cards; appointment and briefing of MC and entertainment artists; production of trophies; photography.

The theme: “Conducting Our Future Together”. Explosive, vigorous and sensory performances, images and sounds were selected to encapsulate the concept of energy. The Event created an evening infused with a strong sense of global responsibility. A clear message was conveyed that if we don’t take bold steps to conserve our limited nonrenewable energy or use renewable sources, we will no longer be able to generate enough energy, and therefore will lose our ability to do work - lift things, move things, warm things and light things.

The result: A vibrant and inspiring affair held at Kylami Theatre on the Track, which entertained 400 guests including Government officials, members of professional institutes, universities, Eskom’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee as well as members of the press. The client gave outstanding feedback.
