The Background: Dubbed “the Oscars of sports journalism”, the SAB Sports Journalist of the Year Awards has over the past 27 years established itself as the most prestigious award ceremony for journalists covering developments in the world of sport. The winners are chosen for their knowledge of the sports they cover and their professional skills in bringing sports news to the public; they can consider themselves the very best in their fields. The sponsorship recognises SAB’s commitment to sport in SA.

The Logistics: Conceptualise and execute a signature event logo and 'look and feel' to be carried across the implementation of all event interventions including the website, invites, brochures, video, décor etc. Management of the event involved the technical aspects, collation of entries and judging, database, VIPs, travel, entertainment and media coverage.

The Concept:: Conceptualized the trophy icon, symbolizing strength, purity and clarity, which was used for the actual award and became the applied icon through all the design material. Exhilarating entertainment at Sandton Convention Centre included a gala banquet, lively Pantsula dancing and a breathtaking display by aerial trampolinists.

The Results: A glamorous well-executed affair with over 250 guests attending - including sports personalities and sport ministers. Fantastic media and PR coverage was achieved.
